A Peek at Company Life

Allow me to be a bit vague in the telling of this story. Just "enjoy" the story.

A man works for a company as a temporary employee. Regular employees officially work from 9 am to 5:30 pm. Temporary employees work from 10 am to 7 pm.

The company has decided to go modern. One night a week is designated "no overtime" night for the regular employees. However, as the temporary employees are working till 7 pm, the regular employees won't leave at 5:30.

So, the company head honcho asks the temporary employees to also "leave" at 5:30. However, instead of going home, he asks them to go to the company's dining room and hide out drinking tea for 30 minutes until the regular employees go home.

Then, they return to their offices, turn the lights back on, turn the computers back on, and work til 7:00.

When I heard this true story from a temporary tea drinker, I JUST couldn't believe it.

Ps. DH just got in and I asked him what he thought: As a regular employee- Mmm. good idea. Otherwise you really can't leave. As a temp. worker- do you get paid for the tea break? That's the important thing. If you do, lucky! If not, hmmm. He doesn't think it's at all odd. f^_^
